Mom recently learned that the Saturday before Mother’s Day is Dog Mom’s Day. It is a day for all pup-loving women across the country to celebrate their special kind of motherhood. Neither of us was aware of this special day, so I thought I would share what we learned.
Introduction:
Woof! I’m here to give you a glimpse into the world of us four-legged furballs and share our perspective on the wonderful holiday known as National Dog Mom’s Day. We dogs are lucky to have amazing human moms who love and care for us just like their own children. This special day is dedicated to honoring the incredible bond between dog moms and their loyal companions.
This special day was created in 2018, when a dog person’s dating app, Dig, launched National Dog Mom’s Day for dog-loving women to thank dog moms, foster dog moms, and future dog moms for all of the love they give to pups. So, let’s wag our tails and celebrate National Dog Mom’s Day from a dog’s perspective!
Here is a poem to celebrate all that dog moms do for their furry kids:
In honor of Dog Mom’s Day, I shall convey,
A heartfelt ode to those who love and play,
With furry companions, loyal and true,
A celebration for dog moms, that’s long overdue.
In the morning’s embrace, as the sun’s rays gleam,
Dog moms arise, ready to fulfill their dream,
Of caring for pups with tender love and care,
Their hearts overflowing, an unconditional affair.
With wagging tails and joyous barks,
Their four-legged children leave their marks,
Upon their lives, these fur babies bestow,
Endless affection and happiness that grows.
Dog moms embrace muddy paws and slobbery kisses,
Guiding their pups through life’s twists and near misses,
They nurture and protect, through every storm,
Their love and devotion, forever warm.
Through long walks in the park and playful games,
Dog moms and their companions create cherished frames,
Of memories, laughter, and moments so dear,
Together, they conquer each hurdle and fear.
On Dog Mom’s Day, let the world take heed,
Of these extraordinary souls, driven by a need,
To love unconditionally, to provide and defend,
Their furry family, until the very end.
So here’s to the dog moms, so loving and kind,
May your hearts be filled with joy you’ll always find,
On this special day, we honor your role,
As the guardians of love, deep within your soul.
For you are the heroes, who show us the way,
With patience and kindness, day after day,
Happy Dog Mom’s Day, may your spirits stay bright,
As you bask in the love of your canine delight!
Unconditional Love and Companionship:
From the moment we join our new families, dog moms embrace us with open arms and hearts full of love. We can always count on them to be there for us, no matter what. Their love is unconditional, and they shower us with affection, cuddles, and belly rubs. Dog moms understand our needs, emotions, and quirky habits, making us feel safe and cherished. Their companionship is a constant source of comfort and joy.
Adventures and Fun:
Dog moms know how important it is for us to explore and have fun. They take us on exciting adventures, whether it’s a trip to the park, a hike in the woods, or a beach day. Seeing their happy faces as we chase balls, leap into lakes, or play fetch fills our hearts with pure delight. Dog moms make sure we have plenty of opportunities to stretch our legs, socialize with other dogs, and discover the wonders of the world around us.
National Dog Mom’s Day Activities
- Go for a walk
If you have to work, take your dog for a walk outside. After a hectic day, this will help you relax your nerves and refresh your energy. It can also serve as an exercise, depending on the distance and duration of the walk.
- Adopt a dog from your local shelter
You are not yet a dog mom? If you have always wanted to adopt a dog, you can use this Dog Mom’s Day to get around to it. Visit your local shelter and give a home to one of those cute furry beings or two. If you happen to miss the holiday this year, don’t wait until next year to adopt. Any day is a good day to adopt a dog.
- Treat yourself and, of course, your dog
Even if National Dog Mom’s Day is a celebration of your motherhood, you can’t leave your fur baby out of it. And why would you? Conduct an online search for the nearest pet-friendly restaurants near you and treat yourself and your dog to some delicious meals. You can also go shopping and buy yourself and your dog matching t-shirts. I don’t care to wear clothing, so just take me to the dog store and let me pick out a toy or a healthy treat!
Health and Well-being:
Our dog moms are like our personal health gurus. They take care of our well-being, ensuring we have a balanced diet, regular exercise, and proper medical care. They prepare delicious meals, provide fresh water, and keep our tails wagging with tasty treats. Dog moms also schedule vet visits, grooming sessions, and keep an eye out for any signs of discomfort or illness. Their dedication to our health ensures we live long, happy, and healthy lives.
Training and Guidance:
Dog moms play a vital role in shaping our behavior and teaching us the ropes. They patiently guide us through training sessions, teaching us commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “fetch.” With positive reinforcement and gentle guidance, they help us become well-behaved and obedient pups. Dog moms celebrate our milestones and accomplishments, making us feel proud of our achievements.
Unbreakable Bond and Support:
The bond between a dog and their mom is unbreakable. Dog moms are our confidants, our protectors, and our best friends. We know we can always rely on them for support and love. When we’re scared during thunderstorms, they’re there to hold us close and whisper soothing words. When we’re feeling down, they’re there to shower us with cuddles and kisses. Dog moms understand us in ways no one else can, and their presence brings us immeasurable comfort.
Conclusion:
As a pup, I can confidently say that National Dog Mom’s Day is a woof-tastic celebration of the incredible love, care, and dedication our dog moms provide. They truly are our superheroes, making our lives brighter and more fulfilling. Let’s give a big wag of appreciation to all the dog moms out there on this special day. Your love and devotion mean the world to us. Happy National Dog Mom’s Day! Woof!

Hi, I’m Trixie! I love treats, sleeping, chewing up my toys and I especially like chasing small critters that enter my yard. (Don’t worry, my mom makes sure that I don’t catch any of them.) I was rescued when someone dumped me in the driveway, expecting 10 little puppies. Though my mom had dogs as a kid, she realized there was a lot she didn’t know.
